Six Fire Departments Battle 2nd Alarm Blaze off Highway Z

Berger, Mo. – Friday morning’s blaze left 11 people displaced and the vast majority of their personal belongings destroyed, according to New Haven-Berger Deputy Chief Brad Maune.

According to Maune, there was one person home at the time of the fire, however the structure is divided into three apartments, two upstairs and a third in the basement.  It is not known which apartment the individual was living in.

Kansas City, Mo. - Winter Weather Advisory in the month of May and no pigs are not flying in Kansas City, Mo. where they are expected to get 1 to 2 inches of snow tonight according to the National Weather Service.

We spoke briefly with Sarah Voss, who lives in Kansas City, Mo. about their current weather conditions.

The photos Sarah sent us were taken around 9 p.m. when the heaviest amount of snow was falling.  Sarah reports the snow has only be sticking to grassy areas and sidewalks.

New Haven 4x400 Team Fastest In Conference History - Seth Schenck Is A Beast

New Haven's Hannah Pruessner, who runs the first leg in the 4x400 for New Haven hands it off to Taylor Covington.

St. Clair, Mo. –   “That’s what I’m talking about, that is what we needed to do…excellent everybody” are the first words Coach John Tucker said to his girl’s 4x400m relay team, Hannah Pruessner, Kierstin Monzyk, Taylor Covington, and Molly Munsinger, after setting a new Four Rivers Conference record with a time of 4:12.93.  Just as impressive, all four’s splits were 63 seconds.

Helping to put in perspective of Monday’s record time, based on last year’s times at state, they would have won in Class 1, took second in Class 2, and qualified for state in Class 3. 

Parents Want More Use of Mobile Devices in Classrooms

Washington (PRnews) - In one of the most comprehensive studies of parents' views on mobile devices in education, more than 50 percent of parents believe that schools should make more use of mobile devices in education and 32 percent agree that schools should require them in the classroom.

These findings are from a new study of how parents perceive mobile learning and devices in and out of the classroom. The Living and Learning with Mobile Devices Study was conducted by Grunwald Associates and the Learning First Alliance and underwritten by AT&T*.

App to Help Save Farmers’ Lives‏ Detects Rollovers and Warns Operators of Danger

Jerett Rion, COLUMBIA, Mo. – Tractor rollovers are the leading cause of death among farmers and claim about 250 lives each year according to the National Institute of Occupational Safety and Health (NIOSH).

These accidents are deadly because they often occur far away from farmers’ homes or roads and they may be unable to reach a phone to call for help.

Now, University of Missouri researchers have developed an application for smartphones that uses GPS systems to locate farmers who have rolled their tractors.

New Haven, Mo. – Tuesday afternoon New Haven (7-8) rebounded from Monday’s 9-2 lose to Cuba by pounding Belle in five innings, scoring 17 runs off a combined 14 hits and 10 RBIs, picking up their seventh win on the year (19-1) as they head into tonight's FRC game vs Union.

Kyle Ruediger had a career night at the plate, knocking in two RBIs off two doubles, scoring four runs and ending the night a perfect 3-3 batting.

Ross Seitter picked up is first win on the season, holding Belle to one run on two hits, improving to 1-2 on  year.

Parent arrested for bringing narcotics to school

Pacific, Mo. - Tuesday morning, Franklin County Deputies took a subject into custody at Nike Elementary School for driving while revoked, after witnesses noticed a “small baggie” fall from the parent’s pocket the previous morning.

Nike School is part of the Meramec Valley R-3 School District in Pacific.

On Monday, April 29, deputies were made aware of a situation at Nike School in Catawissa relating to possible narcotics activity.

Hermann Hospital Auxiliary Fashion Show Features Local Designer Katie Kantley

Hermann, Mo. – Saturday the reception hall at Hermann Hill was jam packed with over 200 fashion enthusiast for the Hermann Hospital Auxiliary 11th annual Fashion Show, featuring local designer Katie Kantley.

The old “fashions” in how charities raise money has slowly changed over the years as new “trends” continue to evolve from creative “design” ideas, creating new and unique events to raise money.

Director of Public Relations Keva Limberg told QuickNewsNow, “The idea of doing a fashion show to raise money was an idea we came up with and went for it.”

Gayle Horn Retires From HADH Today

Hermann, Mo. - Gayle Horn officially retired from Hermann Area District Hospital today after 23 years of service.

In honor of Gayle’s retirement she was given a Kindle Fire HD from Hermann Area District Hospital.  Along with the Kindle Horn, fellow employees provided lunch and cake in celebrating the beginning of a new chapter in her life.

Washington Man Flees After Police Chase - Suspect Apprehended In Man Hunt

St. Clair, Mo. – Late Monday morning 36-year-old David Utz from Washington, Mo. was taken into custody after breaking into a vehicle, which led to Franklin County deputies chasing the suspect earlier in the morning around 6:05 a.m.

The police chase began after a resident on Elmwood Church Road off of Highway 47, approximately 12 miles south of St. Clair, reported seeing someone tampering with her vehicle.

O'Ryan Ray Takes First In Cub Scout Annual Pine Wood Derby Race

New Haven, Mo - Cub Scouts of Troop 453 spent the past month building their derby cars for Sunday’s much anticipated Pine Wood Derby Race at the American Legion.

Over the past few months Cub Scouts have spent time tweaking and fine-tuning their cars in hopes of taking home the first place trophy.  In addition to awarding the winners, a trophy for Best of Show and Best Effort were also handed out.

St. Clair, Mo. - Today at the Four Rivers Conference Meet, three sophomores and one senior, Hannah Pruessner, Kiersten Monzyk, Taylor Covington, and Molly Munsinger, ran the fastest time ever in 4x400 relay at the Four Rivers Conference meet, setting a new record of 4:12.93 (correction made)

After further research, Coach John Tucker just informed us the school record is 4:12.2, however they did break the Four Rivers Conference Record, which is quite an accomplishment with New Haven being the smallest school in the FRC.

While the school record still stands, the FRC record is now owned by the green and white.

Lady Rocks Third Team in 16 Years to Win Track Meet - Big Boost Headed Into Today's FRC Meet

Hermann, Mo. – New Haven’s girls track team provided a glimpse at the Cuba Relays two weeks ago of what they are capable of accomplishing and was a great momentum booster as New Haven ends their regular season in today’s Conference meet at St. Clair. (We will have live updates throughout the day)
