Missing Dog Reunited With Owner

We just learned that the Gerlemann's were able to reunite the dog and his owner after Penny Gerlemann had contacted us, providing the photo above along with details in hopes of someone would know who the dog belonged to.

The great news is he was picked up today by his owner after someone saw the dogs photo on QNN.

Franklin County R-2 Eighth Grade Class Says Their Goodbyes

New Haven, Mo. - Franklin County R-2 School is unique in many ways compared to the majority of other K-8 schools.  The difference that sets R-2 apart from others is graduating 8th graders have several options of where they plan to attend high school and even though the majority will begin the next chapter in their lives at New Haven, others may not.

Similar to graduating from high school, classmates at R-2 said their goodbyes Monday night to those who will be taking a different path in pursing their education at different high schools.

Held May 18 – 19, this celebration was truly one for all ages. 

Maifest is a traditional German festival; welcoming spring after the dark, cold winter has passed. 

New Haven PD and Franklin County Sheriff's Dept. Cracking Down This Holiday Weekend

Franklin County, Mo. - You can expect a large increase in law enforcement during this Memorial Day Weekend.

The New Haven PD and Franklin County Sheriff’s Department are among agencies from across the state who will be cracking down on seat belt usage and impaired drivers.

New Haven PD will be joining with statewide law enforcement May 20 through June 3 for an aggressive "Click It or Ticket" mobilization to crack down on Missouri's seat belt violations.

Washington, MO – In response to the recent tornadic devastation in Oklahoma, Scheer Landscape and Gateway BBQ are holding an event this Friday, May 24th from 5:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. to raise money for victims. Tim Scheer and Jeff Brinker, B&B Catering will be manning the pizza oven and serving up gourmet pizza to those in attendance.

One thing Gateway BBQ Store has learned is that barbecue creates a real camaraderie amongst everyone, even competitors, on the BBQ circuit with everyone willing to lend a hand.

Seth Schenck Is A Beast - Coach Tucker Proud With Team's Performance

Jefferson City, Mo. - Saturday at the Class 1 Missouri Track and Field State Finals, Seth Schenck proved he really is a beast, Dominick Pataky went nuts in the 3200-meter-run, two school records were broken, and next year watch out for New Haven’s girls team.

To say coach John Tucker was excited with how both teams preformed on Friday and Saturday would be an understatement.  During our interview he said, “This is the best time I’ve had at the state meet since 2002.” (2002 girls team won the schools first ever team State Championship.)

Alderman Miller Expresses Concerns About "No Parking" Ordinance

New Haven, Mo. - An ordinance was introduced for discussion at April’s City Council meeting after City Administrator Steve Roth received complaints about parking issues and traffic safety hazards along sections of Miller Street.

The ordinance, which would establish “no parking” in three areas along Miller Street, was passed with a motion for the ordinance to not take affect for 60 days and to be included in next month’s agenda.

After a long discussion and Alderman Stephen Miller's concerns, the board agreed on adding the 60 day period, allowing them time to make sure homeowners along Miller Street are aware of the ordinance.

In April, Aldermen will have the option to leave the ordinance as is or withdrawl it completely.

CARTER COUNTY, MO. – The Missouri Department of Conservation (MDC) added 20 adult cow elk, 16 yearling cow elk, three yearling bull elk and one newborn male calf to its elk restoration project in the Ozarks Tuesday morning.
 
Transported via livestock trailer from Kentucky, where they spent the past four months quarantined in a holding pen, the elk arrived at temporary holding pens on MDC’s Peck Ranch Conservation Area at first light.

The New Haven Care Center celebrated Nursing Home Week with a Coloring Contest at the Elementary School.  The Activities Department at the Care Center awarded each of the winners $5. 

Sewell Sworn In - Mayor Praises City Workers

New Haven, Mo. - At last week’s Board of Aldermen meeting, Gerald Sewell was officially sworn in by City Clerk Kathy Trentmann.  Alderman Alan Bell previously held this seat, after serving the New Haven Community for eight years.

Before leaving, Alderman Bell said, “The City of New Haven has a great staff, making it pretty easy for the Board of Aldermen and Mayor to do business. You [city employees] have always gone above and beyond what your job title requires.”

New Haven Police Department Releases Crackdown Arrest Numbers

Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over Campaign

During the recent Youth DWI Enforcement Campaign, the New Haven Police Department made one arrest for an intoxicated driver.

Officers made a total of 99 traffic stops and issued the following citations: six speeding tickets, two stop sign violations, one ticket for Careless and Imprudent Driving, and two for Failure to maintain insurance.

Each year at Franklin County R-II, Mrs. Kay Hesemann encourages her second grade students to read by having them join her 100 Book Club. 

At the end of the year, the students who have met their goal of reading 100 books are awarded with a t-shirt made especially for them by Mrs. Hesemann. 

Local Scholarships Presented At NHHS Awards Breakfest

New Haven, Mo. - High school students were recognized for their academic achievements during Friday morning's awards breakfast. Individuals from local businesses and organizations also announced the recipients of five different scholarships.

Gov. of Oklahoma Announces Today Federal Assistance Granted for Oklahomans Devastated by Tornadoes

Oklahoma City - Gov. Mary Fallin announced today that the White House has approved the state's request for disaster assistance for five Oklahoma counties hit hard by this week’s deadly tornadoes.

The disaster assistance benefits individuals and business owners impacted by the severe storms that occurred May 18 and continuing in Cleveland, Lincoln, McClain, Oklahoma and Pottawatomie counties.

Gov. Fallin noted with additional damage assessments other counties could be added to the declaration.

4x400 Girls Team Smashes School Record - Breaks State Record - Runs 3rd Fastest Time Ever

Hannah Pruessner, Taylor Covington, Kierstin Monzyk and Molly Munsinger just realized they had ran a 4:07.37.

Jefferson City, Mo. - “Speechless” was how Coach John Tucker described his feelings after watching the girls 4x400 meter relay team, Hannah Pruessner, Kierstin Monzyk, Taylor Covington, and Molly Munsinger, shatter the school record by five-seconds, break the state record, and finish second on Saturday at the State Track Meet.

After winning their heat on Friday, New Haven watched as Midway set a new Class 1 record with a time of 407.91, breaking Rock Port’s record of 409.55, which was set back in 1991.
