Several roads have been closed due to low level crossings.  Locally, we know of the following roads that are closed: Boeuf Lutheran Road between Highway C and Gerding School Road, Hoemann Road along with Detmold Road.

Please drive slowly in low-lying areas and "Don't Drown - Turn Around" when you see water.
Just over a month on Mar. 13 after heavy down pours throughout the day, emergency crews responded to Detmold Road for a water rescue thanks to one driver’s failed attempt of crossing three feet of water left him stranded and sitting on top the roof of his vehicle.

New Havne, Mo. - Fire crews responded to the 900 block of Maupin Street Monday night around 10:15 p.m. for a first alarm with reports of smoke in the residence.

The homeowner told QuickNewsNow that he had just gotten home from work when he noticed smoking coming from the residence.

He said after entering the home, he opened a bedroom dorm and large blooms of smoke began filling the house.  He said he grabbed his phone, ran out the door and called 911.

Bell said that during the past 10 or more years during the summer there are 50 or so vultures that roost every night in the woods along Bates Street.

JEFFERSON CITY–Hunters hoping to bag mature gobblers during the early season should cultivate patience and watch wild turkey hens, according to the Show-Me State’s top turkey expert.

Resource Scientist Jason Isabelle oversees turkey management for the Missouri Department of Conservation. Like other hunters, he has been watching the weather and thinking about how it will affect hunting conditions during the spring turkey hunting season April 15 through May 5. Those considerations go all the way back to last year’s record drought.

Acorns are the single most important food source for wild turkeys in southern Missouri and other areas where forest is the dominant land cover. Waste grain is a staple food for turkeys in areas where row-crop agriculture dominates the landscape. Last year’s drought caused shortages of these dietary mainstays in many areas, but Isabelle doesn’t expect this to have a dramatic impact on the state’s turkey population.

New Haven, Mo. – There has been speculation of an earthquake after several readers reported of feeling one on Wednesday morning.

Saturday morning we had several more people asking if we had received any information regarding a possible earthquake.

The NWS provided an illistration, showing the path of a confirmed tornado touchdown near St. Albans.

Franklin County, Mo. – Early Friday evening the National Weather Service released their second Storm Damage Survey Results after powerful storms hit areas across Franklin County.

This evenings report confirms a tornado touching down near St. Albans, Mo.

The NWS released their first report late Thursday night saying, “Several Microbursts occurred within the Sullivan area, producing narrow swaths of significant straight line winds with speeds of 100 mph reported by an automated weather station at the Sullivan Airport.”

LISLE, Ill - Growing up, Army Staff Sergeant Fabian Hall could always be found in the kitchen with his grandmother.  After learning family recipes and many culinary skills, he will now have the opportunity to put his talents on display this weekend.

Hall was surprised Thursday evening outside a Kroger grocery store in Ft. Worth, Texas, by the driver of the famed No. 43 Richard Petty Motorsports Ford, Aric Almirola.  Stepping out of his race car at the store, Almirola handed Hall an Eckrich grilling set and asked if he could help grill for the race team and owner, "The King" Richard Petty, during this weekend's race activities.
