To The Editor:
Last week we had the privilege to serve as team hosts for the New Haven Shamrocks girls team during the 2013 Show-Me Showdown.
We spent time with the coaches, players, cheerleaders and fans while they were here. We were truly impressed with their excellent behavior and attention to why they were in Columbia — to play for a championship.
Although they did not win the championship, their effort was outstanding and they are to be commended for giving 100 percent.
We congratulate these young women for serving as distinguished representatives of their community, school, parents and especially themselves. It was our pleasure to see the New Haven youth in such a positive manner and everyone should be proud of them.
Looking forward to seeing everyone in Columbia again next year.
George and Raelene Derrieux, Columbia
