Kelsey signs her academic scholarship to attend Westminster College where she will play on the Blue Jay Volleyball team.
New Haven, Mo. - Senior Kelsey Pecaut will be attending Westminster College this fall on an academic scholarship, continuing her volleyball career at the collegiate level.
Pecaut told QuickNewsNow, “After injuring my shoulder in our last regular season game and the chance I may not be able to play at districts was a terrible feeling and then after losing in the championship game I knew I was not done playing....I knew if I would have stopped playing I’d miss it too much.”
Coach Jaime Hoener said, “Kelsey [Pecaut] has spent a lot of time over the past four years playing volleyball and working out to make herself stronger and faster and just a better athlete. Her intensity is unmatched by her peers.”
Pecaut was a three year starter for the lady shamrocks where she was named All-State each year and was voted to numerous other teams such as All-Conference, All-District, and All-Region to name a few.
In 2011 Pecaut set a new school record for most aces in one season (68) and this past year served the fourth most aces in a single season.
Pecaut became New Haven’s all-time career leader in aces served in New Haven’s second game this passed season on August 27, 2012 at Cuba when she served her 143 career ace, surpassing the previous record of 142. Pecaut finishes her career with a total of 198 aces.
Pecaut said, “I was kind of interested in Westminster and after their coach watched me at a few club games it just seemed like a good fit, particularly after visiting the college several times and really enjoyed it.”
