BALLWIN, Mo. - Last weekend on Sunday April, 12 the Vipers went 5-0 to take first place in the St. Louis West Athletic Association (STLWAA) baseball season opener (12 & under age group ) tournament in Ballwin, Mo.
The Vipers kicked off the tournament on a rainy Wednesday night with a 12-4. Friday night they cruised to an easy 15-0 win as August Panhorst (New Haven) pitched a three inning shutout. Friday’s win secured them the number 1 seed, heading into the weekend’s bracket play.
The Vipers would win their first two games on Sunday, 13-3 and 10-4, which placed them in the championship game.
In the championship game the Vipers would rally on the shoulders of Panhorst, who went four and a third before Gavin Mueller came in and closed it out as the Vipers held on to a 6-4 win and a great start to their season.
