New Haven’s annual Sports Banquet will be on (correction) Thursday, May 8 at 6:30 p.m. which is always full of emotions; celebration, reflection, camaraderie, and the realization that yet another year has passed.
This year, those emotions will have an added dimension, with the retiring of Coach Ray Steinhoff.
Steinhoff along with all coaches at New Haven view the Sports Banquet as a time to recognize the achievements of student athletes and for them to be the center of attention, which I have no doubt will be any different this year.
However, I also know that students and fellow coaches haven an unmeasurable amount of respect and appreciation for Coach Steinhoff and I believe that this year’s Sports Banquet will be one most will not forget, much like the 2012 banquet when Coach Dave Luecke resigned from girls basketball Head Coach.

Wednesday night will officially be the last time that “Coach” will set foot on the vary court he has walked the sidelines for the past 30 years, the same court that bares his name, “Ray Steinhoff Court”.
Note: The community is invited to attend.
