Washington, Mo. - After Last year's first ever "Shootout" in the history of tractor pulling, Lester Holdmeyer told QuickNewsNow, "I hope this grows and I think by word of mouth among pullers they will say, "You have to come to Washington, Mo."

Word must have spread; Holdmeyer called this year's tractor pull "The best one ever.  We had a lot of the best pullers from across the Midwest come a long ways.  Tonight's [Friday nightís] pull put Washington, Mo. on the map."

The 4.1 Pro-Stock was the only class featured in last year's "Shootout", but last night the Fair Board added the 10,000 pound Pro-Stock class, adding to the excitement.

The top three in the 10,000 pound Pro-Stock featured fan favorite Patricia Justison out of Hillsboro, Il. (Corn Fed), Jerry Ruhow from Osco, IL (Ace in the Hole), and Dennis Schnitker (Bite-N-Binder).

Ace in The Hole was the first hook, pulling 311', setting the mark to beat.  As Corn Fed pulled onto the track, fans stood to their feet, cheering her on, but after coming up short with a pull of 307.6' it came down to the classic Red verses Green; John Deere verses International.

Schnitker had his International wound tight and did he ever explode down the track, blowing past Ruhow's 311', pulling 322.76'.

The 4.1 limited Pro-Stock "Shootout" came down to two tractors after the third was unable to pull due to mechanical problems.

That left just the top two, Brad Hartman from Haubstadt, In. and Richard Warren of Stotts City, Mo.

Warren wasn't able to top's Hartman's mark, making him the 2013 9,500 pound limited Pro-Stock Shootout Champion.

Afterwards Holdmeyer, in his 18th year of running the tractor pull, said, "Volunteers made this year's tractor pull by far the best we've put on.  The men and women behind the scenes, making sure everything is in line and organized.  These little things are one reason pullers keep coming back.  And the pullers themselves flat out put on a great show."
