Suspect Captured For Car Break-ins in Washington

Washington, Mo. - On July 31, 2013 at approximately 11:20 p.m., Sergeant Paul Kesterson arrested a white male suspect 22 years of age who resides in Washington for breaking into numerous vehicles over the past few nights.

Most of these vehicles were parked in front of residences in the Quail Run subdivision.

After a radio call was broadcast for a male and female acting suspicious and possibly under the influence of narcotics at the FasTrip on East 5th Street, Sgt. Kesterson observed the vehicle described and conducted a traffic stop in the 1300 block of East 5th Street.

The male subject was known to Sgt. Kesterson as being a possible suspect for the break-ins and also having an outstanding warrant.  After initial investigation, the suspect was arrested.

Numerous items such as GPS units and other various items were identified as stolen and were seized from the vehicle.  The suspect confessed to stealing the items and led Sgt. Kesterson to an address on Lafayette Street where additional stolen items were recovered.

The suspect has at least two prior stealing convictions, therefore felony stealing charges will be sought accordingly.

The suspect is not identified at this time pending warrant application.  Investigation is continuing to identify all victims involved with the recovered property.  The female subject was not involved and was released.
