After the Bulldogs took a 53-48 lead with nine minutes left to play, Truman went into a scoring funk over the next seven plus minutes. The Cardinals had four chances to go in front and on the fifth attempt took a 55-54 lead on a pair of free throws by Maddie Nelson with 2:56 to play.

Out of a timeout and with two seconds on the shot clock, Norton found Courtney Strait on the inbounds pass and she powered in it for the lead back at the 1:28 mark. It was Norton's eighth assist of the night and 300th for her career.

The Cardinals' Christia Benton-Keys was fouled, made her first attempt to tie and then had two cracks at the go-ahead free throw after Truman was called for a lane violation. Benton-Keys missed the bonus try with Michalina Tomczak grabbing her 13th rebound of the night.

Following Truman's final timeout, Norton lofted a pass into the lane that was corralled by Kasey Gassensmith, whose jumper bounced off the rim a few times before dropping through for the lead with 22 seconds showing. Aerial Smith wasted little time as she raced up the floor to knot things up at 58 with nine seconds left.

William Jewell had a foul to give and grabbed Norton on the arm to set up a third inbounds play from under the offensive basket. Norton got it to Strait, who fed inside to Tomczak, who in turn found Norton on the wing for the winning three-pointer with five-tenths of a second left. The Cardinals could not get off an attempt and the Bulldogs snapped their three-game skid while putting an end to William Jewell's four-game winning streak.

Strait finished with 19 points and eight rebounds and Tomczak notched her third double-double with 12 points and 13 boards. Norton finished with a season-high nine assists to go with her eight points. Truman shot 41% from the field, 31% from the arc and was 12-of-14 at the line for 85%.

Hayli Jo Smith lit up the scoreboard for the Cardinals connecting on six of nine three-pointers for 18 points. Aerial Smith added 13. William Jewell shot 33% for the game, including 25% in the second half after taking a 36-32 lead into the locker room.

The Bulldogs will host Rockhurst (Mo.) University on Saturday afternoon at 1:00 p.m. in Pershing Arena. The Hawks were downed by the other Hawks in the league, Quincy (Ill.) on Thursday by a 71-59 score.
