Golden City, Mo. - Searches for 12-year-old Adriaunna Horton were suspended on Wednesday after a body was found Wednesday aftertnoon.
While the MSHP has not officialy made a statement or indicated; national and local media outlets are reporting the unidentified body found to be Adriaunna Horton.
Wed. Aug 21 - In Southwestern Missouri the Barton County Sheriff's Department along with the Missouri State Highway Patrol have been searching for 12-year-old Adriaunna M. Horton since Monday evening when she was last seen getting into a vehicle near Hazel Park in Golden City, according to Sgt. Pace.
Earlier this evening Sgt. Pace released a statement saying, "At approximately 1:50 p.m. in a rural area outside Golden City, Missouri, a body was located by law enforcement. Currently, the identity of the body is unknown and the identification process is underway."
Officials have released very little information about the body found earlier today except for saying that the investigation of the missing12-year-old is still ongoing. Sgt. Pace said the identity of the body is unknown and the identification process could take as long as 24 hours before a positive ID is made.
Officials did say that on Monday they arrested Bobby D. Bourne, 34, Lamar, matching the description given to law enforcement. Bourne was stopped police at 7 p.m. and was alone in the vehicle, according to Sgt. Pace.
Bourne was charged on Tuesday with kidnapping and is being held at the Barton County Jail in Lamar on $1 million bond.
Golden City, Mo is a small rural town approximately 60 miles northwest of Springfield, Mo.
