A Wonderful Wednesday – Washington Town and Country Fair Daily Recap

Washington, Mo. - The Washington Town and Country Fair began with great weather and excitement on Wednesday, August 7. 

In the livestock arena, shows got off to an early start with Sheep and Market Lambs.  Jo’s School of Dance entertained a crowd of all ages with two shows in the Family Fun Center.

Competition was in the air in the Hog Show Arena with the Kids’ Super Farmer Contest.  Children ages 5 – 14 competed in various farm chore activities from “herding cattle” to racing with water buckets and finding washers in sawdust. 

Winners in the 5-6 year-old division were, in First Place, Brook Horgisto, Sullivan; Second Place, Josie Kluesner, Washington; and Third Place, William Geisert, Washington.

In the 7-8 year-old division, Ezra Straatmann of Washington took First Place, with Andrew Maune, Washington, in Second and Tristen Weidemann of Villa Ridge in Third.

Winners in the 9-10 year old division included Joseph Geisert, First Place, Washington; Brynner Frankenberg, Second Place, Washington; and Blake Schroeder, Third Place, Washington. 

The 11-14 year-old division was won by Marina Pursley of Lake St. Louis, with Cassidy Keeven of New Haven in Second and Nicholas Hellmann of Washington in Third. 

Mr. Donald Elbert was the emcee of the event and asked the participants agricultural related questions while they waited their turn to compete.
