Zita Mary Johnson, 94, of Rhineland, Missouri, passed away on Sunday, January 4, 2015 at Frene Valley Health Center, Hermann, Missouri.
Mrs. Johnson was born in Starkenburg, Missouri on June 12, 1920, the daughter of the late Gerhard and Katherine (Struttmann) Overkamp.
She was the widow of Richard Marion Johnson. They were married September 18, 1943 at Bridgeton, Missouri.
Zita is survived by a son David Johnson & wife Judy of Santa Cruz, California, a daughter Linda Sue Ingram & husband Harry of Columbia, Missouri, a son Darrell Johnson & wife Elizabeth of Centralia, Missouri, a son Steve Johnson of Columbia, Missouri, a son-in-law Paul Zahnd of Indiana, a sister-in-law Cyrilla Overkamp Rhineland, by nine grandchildren and many great grandchildren.
She is preceded in death by her parents, her husband, by a daughter Bonita Zahnd, by a sister Anna Scheidegger and by seven brothers Emil, George, Henry, Ollie, Ewald, William, & Joseph Overkamp.
Zita was a member of Church of the Risen Savior, where she was a member of the ladies sodality. She worked as a nurses aid and also worked for Handi-pac. She enjoyed sewing, embroidering, playing pinochle and bingo and walking.
Visitation will be Friday 9:00 to 11:00 a.m. at Church of the Risen Savior, Rhineland, Missouri, where funeral services will follow at 11:00 a.m., with Father Bill Debo officiating.
Burial will be at St. Joseph's Cemetery, Rhineland, Missouri.
