Aug 31 - Smile... God has it under control. "Fear thou not; for I am with thee: be not dismayed; for I am thy God: I will strengthen thee; yea, I will help thee; yea, I will uphold thee with the right hand of my righteousness." Isaiah 41:10

He woke me up this morning and started me on my way. "This is the day which the LORD hath made; we will rejoice and be glad in it." Psalms 118:24

Sunday, the last day of August for 2014. The days fly by so quickly. Put God first today…Make Him your sole purpose today!! With Him all things are possible, even the things you’ve never thought you’d could or would do. Attend church or find one on television. You may be surprised, He may be talking to you. Listen, because He wants the best for you always!!

Aug 29 - God will give you strength when you think you can’t go on. He will give you joy when you should be discouraged. He can make a way when it looks impossible.

We have all experienced a time or two in our lives or in the lives of those we care deeply about, when things just don’t seem possible to dig our way out of. None of us are immune to failure or troubles, but it’s how we handle it that makes the difference and sets the faithful believers of God apart from the others. God’s begging you to ask for His help….that’s one of the things He does best!!! Help and forgive!! Help and forgive!!

The scripture says in Matthew 5:45, “Rain falls on the just and the unjust.” No matter how good a person you are, no matter how much you honor God, there’s going to be some rain in your life.


Aug 27 - The Lord is my {strength} and my {shield}; my heart trusts in HIM and He helps me. Psalm 28:7.  What a simple way to sum it all up.  What else could we ask for?!? If He give the strength to move forward each day and is my shield if things go wrong, than all things are possible with Him by my side.

God has a purpose for your pain, a reason for the struggles and a reward for your faithfulness.  DON’T GIVE UP!!! Feel proud even when things don’t go the way we want.  Show your spirit and prove to God you will bounce back and do His will.

"We are not average. We are one of a kind and we have a unique purpose on this planet. God made us once and then He stopped with that mold because one of us is enough to fill His heart. He made us on purpose – every corner of who we are is beautiful to Him.

Aug 26 - Anybody can get negative, bitter, blame God and lose their passion. That’s easy. But if you want to pass the test, if you want God to take you to a new level, you’ve got to be a warrior. – Joel Osteen

I think about this all the time...Is God testing me when times get tough? Giving it all to Him to resolve can sometimes be harder than being tested. I think back to all the times I believe have been tests and after some practice of letting go, good things would happen. I think God and I have a pretty good track record. Psalm 31 is a good reference for putting your trust in God..

God knows our greatest need. He paid the price. "There's no such thing as self-rescue. The cost of rescue is beyond our means. But God reaches down, grabs me and will surely take me to Himself." Psalm 49. Don't try to get to heaven on your own...the price is out of reach. – Sandi – 99.1 Joy FM

Dear Jesus, Please hear my prayer. We tend to go along each day, trying to run our lives our own way. Sometimes I forget to let go and give you control and then I wonder why things aren't going the way I want them to go. I forget to stop and ask what you want, Lord. Please help me to give you control, Jesus. I want to follow you. I want what you desire for me. Help me to realize that when you close one door, you open the one you want me to walk through. I trust that you want what’s is best for me. 
Help me, dear Jesus, be who and what you want me to be. Give me strength, faith and hope, and most of all, give me guidance each and every day. I let go and give you control. In Jesus name, Amen.


Aug. 25 - Dear God, please: Teach me. Keep me. Help me to be a better example of your love; I want to be better than I was yesterday. I your Holy name, Amen.

We should also want to strive to be better than we were the day before. Jesus looked at them and said, “With man this is impossible, but with God all things are possible.” Jesus tells us that with God we can do anything incredible and amazing!

A gentle reminder this morning of how big He is - big enough for ALL who are weary. “Come to me, all who are weary and heavy-laden, and I will give you rest.” Matthew 11:28

Here’s another way of saying what I continue to say. Knowing is a blessing, but practicing and being an example is Glorious!!

"If we want to know what to do when it matters most, we’ve got to be committed to showing up to practice. A Best Yes is a wise yes. The Bible reminds us, “Get all the advice and instruction you can, so you will be wise the rest of your life”- Prov. 19:20 NLT. And wisdom needs to be practiced day after day if we are going to know how to apply it to the Best Yes decisions when they come. – Lysa TerKeurst


Aug. 24 - The Scripture says in Mark 11:24, "Therefore I tell you, whatever you ask for in prayer, believe that you have received it, and it will be yours." Pray God-sized prayers and learn how to “Ask, Believe & Receive”.

Don’t stay focused on disagreements or how impossible it looks. Don't consider the negative circumstances. Start considering your God. Remind Him of what He said. All through the day, let His promises keep playing in your mind.

I’ve always loved this saying, “Don't tell your God how BIG your problems are; tell your problems how BIG your God is!”

You’ve magnified that problem long enough. You’ve talked about how impossible it is, how it’s never going to work out; but if you'll turn the telescope around, you'll see it from the right perspective. You'll realize that it's nothing for our God. – Joel Osteen

Surrender to God, forget your past troubles. Give yourself to the Lord. "Submit yourselves therefore to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you." James 4:7


Aug. 23 - “Is any one of you in trouble? He should pray. Is anyone happy? Let him sing songs of praise.” James 5:13.

Today’s schedule is busy and no time to spare. I want to remind you to “Walk with the Lord.” When our days are so hectic, how can we add "prayer time" to an already overly committed schedule?

Maybe the answer is to include prayer into every event of our day. While preparing the meal for sick friends at church, pray for their family’s needs and ask God for the wisdom to bring them words of comfort. Before your family meal, add petitions for family concerns.

When the worries of the day keep you awake at night, turn to God in prayer.

Dear Lord, starting today help me to add more prayer time to my life. Please be patient with me as I learn to change my worries and concerns into prayers for help, for comfort, and then for thanksgiving. This I pray, in Jesus' name. Amen.


Aug. 22 - Lord, make me and mold me into the person you want me to be. "But now, O LORD, thou art our father; we are the clay, and thou our potter; and we all are the work of thy hand." Isaiah 64:8

If I could do or be anything in the world, what would it be? That’s a tough decision?!? I have faith that God has something incredible planned for me.  Until He makes that clear to me, I continue every day to be molded by His hands and count my blessings.

God is not through blessing you! "He shall receive the blessing from the LORD, and righteousness from the God of his salvation." Psalms 24:5


Aug 21 - “So do not throw away your confidence; it will be richly rewarded. You need to persevere and be persistent so that when you have done the will of God, you will receive what he has promised.” – Hebrews 10:35-36

Sometimes we quickly forget and throw away confidence in ourselves; when we say things like, “God this is too hard, I can’t do it.” …”I’m not smart enough to handle this.” ...”My life is a mess and my faith isn’t strong enough.”…”Things will never change.”

The next time you’re attempted to throw away your confidence and have doubt, STOP!! You as a child of God need to reassure yourself that God wants you to feel secure in His promise. He’s waiting for you to ask Him for help with your insecurity and doubts.


Aug 19 - Trust in the LORD with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways submit to him, and he will make your paths straight. – Proverbs 3:5-6

For over that past week we’ve been wondering when this mess in Ferguson will end. A friend from Germany sent a message this morning saying that St Louis County is all over their radio and television.

There comes a time when we need to take pride in what and who we are, even if life hasn’t been easy. The popular song out now by Matthew West, “Do Something” is so fitting. Something is being done, but the people that need to get it aren’t, they just continue to blame everyone else for their hardships….I wonder when the last time was that they prayed to God for help and MEANT it. I just heard on the news this morning that some of the people arrested last night were from as far away as, New York, California, and Chicago.

And we know that to them that love God all things work together for good, even to them that are called according to his purpose. – Romans 8:28

Dear Lord, thank you for waking me up this morning and giving me a new day. I pray that you give these thugs and criminals a taste of your goodness. Clearly they are too headstrong and don’t care about the life you’ve given them or maybe they’ve never been shown the true WAY.

I’m thankful I’ve never had to feel like I couldn’t leave my home without being in fear. Continue to watch over all the good people trying to make a difference. In your name I pray. Amen.


Aug 16 - I'll be taking a few days vacation and will be back but to posting next week. May God bless your weekend.


Aug. 15 - If anyone ever asked me the secret to successful Christian living. I’d have to tell them there is no magical formula, but only word to describe it, would be surrender. Surrendering is one of the hardest things to do. Because we want what we want when we want it….right NOW and we know what’s best for us.

Faith and surrendering comes through confession of sin and completely giving our lives, personality and wills to Jesus Christ. With that comes the faith that Christ will accept our commitment. It’s not enough for us to be confirmed or just to that faith. We need to return and renew those promises with the Lord. We need to regularly have a spiritual checkup.

For God gave us not a spirit of fearfulness; but of power and love and discipline.
– 2 Timothy 1:7.


Aug 14 - God gives us 4 great gifts:

1. A key for every problem
2. A light for every shadow
3. A plan for every tomorrow
4. A joy for every sorrows

“We cannot cure the world of sorrows, but we can choose to live in joy!” – Joseph Campbell

Be that shining light for others in crisis. Be that person who brightens someone’s day…You don’t know what troubles they may be going through. Smile and be kind!!

Be kind to one another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, as God in Christ forgave you. - Ephesians 4:32.

Let us pray: Our Father in Heaven, we thank you for all your gifts in life. We ask that you would allow your healing touch to rest upon every person that is in need. We thank you.  In Jesus' name we pray, Amen.


Aug 13 - I received this from a very dear friend yesterday. I wanted to share. I hope she doesn’t mind.

I did not sleep well last night.

People are hurtling in our world, towns & neighborhoods
I am thankful that this is my temporary home!

My Response:

I have no training or qualifications for writing these daily messages, it's this God driven thing I feel I've been called to do. Sometimes it's a rant, but most of the time it’s real life experiences and what I feel in my heart. We all have plenty issues and experiences, I only know by what I've been taught and experienced that we individually need to make our peace with God, the one and only forgiver of all things. With this unstable world we live in, one thing is a given; His promise of Hope and eternal life with no fear or sorrow. He already knows you can't fix stupid and stubbornness!!  Sometimes I just vision God very sad and crying because of those that just don't get it. I pray that what I do makes Him smile and that when I get to my heavenly home I'll see others that I thought had doubts.

This just came to mind; my qualifications are being a child of the one true King and spreading His Word. What else could I ask for!! 

“I instruct you in the way of wisdom and lead you along straight paths.  When you walk, your steps will not be hampered; when you run, you will not stumble.” – Proverbs 4:11-12


Aug 12 - Whoever is ashamed of me and my words, the Son of Man will be ashamed of them when he comes in his glory and in the glory of the Father and of the holy angels.” Luke 9:26 NIV.

Here’s a small part of Rick Warren’s devotion, which has inspired me today…Definitely something to think long and hard about:

One day, you’ll give an account of your life before God. When you keep that in mind and have that kind of long-term thinking, it’s going to change what you say, what you do, and who you try to impress. It’s the people-pleaser antidote.

When you take that long look and realize you’re going to give an account for every word you say today, you’ll ask yourself, “Do I want God disapproving of what I just said or did, or do I want this person disapproving of what I just said or did?”

Remember these truths:

First, I remember what Jesus Christ did for me on the cross.
Second, I remember that one day I’m going to give an account to God.
Finally, I tell the truth and let the chips fall.

I admit I’m a people pleaser. Sometimes after saying yes to help others out: I think why did I commit to that?? Is that what I really want to do? The majority of the time it’s all for the good of God. Some may think I’m crazy, but God gave me this characteristic and I feel good using it to its fullest and I'm at my happiest when helping others.

To the man who pleases him, God gives wisdom, knowledge and happiness. – Ecclesiastes 2:26.


Aug 11 - I’ve been totally consumed with the mess going on in North St Louis County.  I’m thinking God what do we do? Even when the authorities try to “Do Something” there is retaliation.

What causes fights and quarrels among you? Don’t they come from your desires that battle within you?  You desire but do not have, so you kill. You covet but you cannot get what you want, so you quarrel and fight. You do not have because you do not ask God. – James 4:1-2.

Maybe the shooting of this young man isn’t justifiable, but how will we ever know if the quarreling and fighting continues?  I’m not denying that North St Louis County isn’t a scary place, but there are good people there that are unfortunately being outnumbered by the know it all’s that think they have a solutions…. But in the same regards it sounds like there is not respect for any one in authority either.

I realize that today and in the coming weeks, months and years. That this verse could be a challenge…

I appeal to you, brothers and sisters, in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, that all of you agree with one another in what you say and that there be no divisions among you, but that you be perfectly united in mind and thought. – 1 Corinthians 1:10.

In your name Lord I pray you always be with this family over the loss of their child; be with this community to come together for the good of all. I pray that no more senseless deaths come from this situation. Our Faith is put in Your hands. Amen.

One last thought...

When I worked in the city I knew people that lived there.  They are good people just trying to raise their children. I wonder just how many of all those involved have dropped to their knees in prayer for help for their community? My prayer is that God softens the hearts of those that think they have the answers THEY want, without God's help.  Do these people really think this is the true answer for their community?


Aug 10 - Devote yourselves to prayer, being watchful and thankful.  And pray for us, too, that God may open a door for our message, so that we may proclaim the mystery of Christ, for which I am in chains.  Pray that I may proclaim it clearly, as I should.  Be wise in the way you act toward outsiders; make the most of every opportunity.  Let your conversation be always full of grace, seasoned with salt, so that you may know how to answer everyone. – Colossians 4:2-6

“God writes the Gospel not in the Bible alone, but on trees, and flowers and clouds, and stars.” – Martin Luther.

God also allows our mouths to speak the Gospel, our actions to show His true word. Pray daily that He seasons your words with salt to speak what is good and true in a manner that others understand.  From the time I started my second chance to spread His word, He always seems to put the words in me to express my thoughts in a way to reach more of His children.

O Lord, our Lord, how excellent is thy name in all the earth, who hast set thy glory above the heavens.” Psalms 8:1


Aug 9 - As I think about friendship and life in general, I wonder if I had my life to live over, how differently I would live it or would it be exactly the same.

Would I have invited more friends over for dinner or to visit not worrying about how my house looked? Friends understand your life and accept you as you are. Would I have spent more time doing fun things with my girls and family? Would I have laughed more often about silly things? Granted there are a few things that I wish hadn't been so tough, but those were trials that made me stronger and the woman I am.

Well, I have been given a second chance or extended chance. There’s not much I’d change about the past 51 years. I have my beautiful girls, a wonderful, loving family and friends, that accept me the way I am…Not much more I could ever ask for. Thanks to God the Father I can enjoy the memories and give Him my all!!

Think about it, if you were given another opportunity at life and friendship, would you change anything?

Greater love has no one than this: to lay down one’s life for one’s friends.  You are my friends if you do what I command. – John 15:13-14


Aug 8 - …let your light shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your Father in heaven. – Matthew 5:16….Be genuine; God and others can see through the gloating of being something you’re really not, be true to yourself.

If you are with Christ and know Him your light will shine without you knowing it.  Always be on guard as to how you carry yourself, be an example of the likeness of Jesus…people are watching. Be gracious, have a great attitude…Attitude really is everything.

What do others see in your life that would attract then to Christ?


Aug. 7 - Thank you Lord for waking me up this morning. I give you special thanks for the beautiful, much needed rain we received over night and continuing throughout the day. Thank you for answering my prayer of bringing us a great Matthew West concert with no rain and a refreshing breeze. There were so many signs of God’s presence last night. From touching stories to when a breeze came through as if God was speaking to us. You know what we need and when we need it; refreshing our lives, as well as the ground which we walk. Lord, we thank you for blessings seen and unseen. "Let everything that hath breathe praise the LORD. Praise ye the LORD." Psalms 150:6. In Your Holy name, Amen.

Do something for you. By surrendering all of yourself to the Lord you allow God to start doing things in your life that you would never would imagined you’d be doing.

Don’t stop praying. He hears you and He is working it out for your good. "Casting all your care upon him; for He careth for you." 1 Peter 5:7


Aug. 6 - It's not enough to do nothing. It's time for us to do something! What can YOU do in your community to make this a “Do Something Summer”? Only what is built on a solid foundation of Christ will survive. Teaching children about responsibility and love for others is our job. Whether it be to our own kids or to those in the community. Our youth group at The Bridge will be working the Jaycees food stand all day today. This great group of kids are raising money for their annual youth conference.

They represent the fabulous job their parents have don’t raising them with the love of Christ in their hearts. Can’t wait to do my shift with them this morning. Are you listening to God’s Word and putting it into practice every day?

Jesus said, “Everyone who hears these words of Mine and puts them into practice is like a wise man who built his house (family) on upon the rock.” – Matthew 7:24

Come out and support the youth of our community, they are our future!!


Aug. 5 - Now to him who is able to do immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine, according to his power that is at work within us. – Ephesians 3:20 AMEN!!

Have you thanked God for waking you up today? I also thank Him for the rain we received overnight, but I’m greedy and want more tonight. It’s great sleeping to the sound of rain and thunder.

Lord I do have one request….no rain tomorrow until after the Matthew West Concert at the Washington Fair. I’m so excited to be able to spend more time with my Faith Family spreading our love for Christ.  Can you imagine the smile on our Savior’s face as He watches over Washington, Mo tomorrow night!!! Let’s make Him proud…the more the merrier!!!

As we say, “Live to Know Christ and Make Christ Known!!!” 

As Christians we should be thanking the fair board for allowing us the opportunity to share and spread His love at this year’s fair. What a way to start out this year’s fair!! All things are possibly through Him!

"Oh that men would praise the LORD for his goodness, and for his wonderful works to the children of men!" Psalms 107:8


Aug. 4 - Here’s just a quick morning prayer. Good way to start the day and then you can add the personal things that are on your mind.

Heavenly Father, we thank you for your grace and mercy over our lives. We take this time to give you thanks for all things. In Jesus' name we pray, Amen.

Happily, I serve a forgivin God, because I’m sure there are things I forgot to thank Him for or even many things I forgot to ask His help with. I’m so blessed that He knows what's on my mind throughout the day.

Do not give up. God hears and knows your needs and prayers. "Hear, O LORD, when I cry with my voice: have mercy also upon me, and answer me." Psalms 27:7


Aug. 3 - The weight we carry on our shoulders is sometimes much too heavy for one human being. Give some of that weight where it belongs, - to God, and have faith that what happens is for the best, whether you understand it or not. Don’t be afraid or ashamed to ask for help, even from your earthly family and friend. The first step is getting passed the feeling of being a wimp and like your aren’t carrying your load. God knows exactly what your load is and He’s begging you to come to Him for help.

So do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with my righteous right hand. - Isaiah 41:10


Aug. 1 - Some days aren’t always the greatest, but we are blessed to try again tomorrow with everything in the past forgotten. When we think about tomorrow being a new day, it is absolutely necessary to strive to be 'better' than the day before. To grow as a spouse, parent, daughter, friend, child of God. I’m sure at times we find ourselves saying we’ll do better, but then we’re back to the same old thing. If you say you’re truly sorry, that’s more than just saying it; it’s working our hardest to change it.

First embrace the truth. Nothing can be overcome without admitting your mistakes and asking for forgiveness. You are good enough and will find strength in the Lord. That’s an awesome gift. God’s gift of forgiveness and counseling is free to those that just ask!!

No temptation has overtaken you that is not common to man. God is faithful, and he will not let you be tempted beyond your strength, but with the temptation will also provide the way of escape, that you may be able to endure it. – 1 Corinthians 10:13
