June 28 - "No matter where you are, or what you're going through today, remember this: Jesus is pursuing you with the gift of His perfect love — love that is patient and kind, love that keeps no record of your wrongs, love that won’t ever give up on you!"

His hand is upon my life. I know He has something greater for me. But you, Lord, are a compassionate and gracious God, slow to anger, abounding in love and faithfulness. – Psalm 86:15

Dear Father, please give me the strength to clear my mind of the worry of those things I have no control over. I know I’ve asked You for this many times, but it is still a struggle for me to just let go.  Knowing of your great patience with us and compassion for us I have no fear to continue asking for help. I pray these words in your Holy name, Amen.

June 27 - "True love does not only encompass the things that make you feel good, it also holds you to a standard of accountability." Monica Johnson

“Accountability” – that can be a little scary. Being fully accountable in all you do whether it’s volunteering to a cause, to someone else in a relationship, or most importantly to God. It demands we own our words, actions and results, good or bad. But it also sets us free from excuses, blame or being stuck in yesterday; those things hanging over us, which can be stressing us out.

Have a great stress-free weekend!!

“So then, each of us will be accountable to God.” - Romans 14:12

June 26 - I woke up to a TV interview with shouts of “I believe that we will Win!! I believe that we will Win!!

As a Christian, I believe that we have WON!! We have won His greatest gift of all, eternal life and forgiveness of ALL our sins.

“I have filled you with the Spirit of God, with skill, ability and knowledge in all kinds of crafts.” –Exodus 31:3.

The athletes participating in the World Soccer matchup today with Germany will have to fight hard to WIN. They have worked hard to get where they are and I pray that God watches over them. God I pray that you give them the ability for them to bring out the best in each other. May each athlete allow you to let them shine for the world to see. What a game it will be, the USA being led by their German coach. We as Christians are all winners as long as we ask for God’s forgiveness. He fought that greatest game (battle) of all for us and we receive eternal life…the ultimate WORLD CUP!!

A friend of mine from Germany sent me a Facebook message that stated, “We just wanted to let you know when the game ends up good for the USA it is all because the German trainer! ”  ;) Thanks Sven and Svenja…Remember whatever the outcome we are all still great friends.

June 25 - Life is filled with decisions – some minor and others life changing. How do you make decisions?  Do you consult God before making major ones? Remember, “Whatever a man sows, that he will also reap.” – Galatians 6:7.

The most important thing to remember is: seek God’s will in every decision. Pray asking God for advice and to guide you. Seek the advice of Godly friends, ones that have your best interest in their hearts. God loves you, and His way is always best.

“Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways acknowledge Him, and He will make your paths straight. Do not be wise in your own eyes.”
– Proverbs 3:5-7

June 24 - We are constantly trying to change ourselves. We look for the bestselling self-help book out there thinking if I follow this I can find the answer to making that change…And if I find it I can also help others, but what we find is only temporary. That best seller we should be drawn to is called the BIBLE. Transformation of our body and soul can only come with the help of our Heavenly Father…as some refer to as being born again. The Lord has always been in my heart, but now I’m mature enough to get it!!

A deep transformation can happen…a transformation from within, a transformation of the heart. No, it doesn’t happen all at once or overnight. We spend the rest of our lives understanding what it all means to follow Christ. I believe God saw something in me in May of 2013, something I had no idea I’d be doing. He gave my surgeon the steady hands and mind of steel to allow me to be what I am today. I remember the last words I told Dr. Quinn was that when she was done I wanted to live a meaningful life; she's one of my heroes!!! So the transformation until the day I die, has started and I believe I’m well on my way.

I do understand that some Bibles are very hard to understand and connect with, but take the time to search out one that makes sense to you. Some are for study and some just for everyday devotionals. Have a couple on hand to reference as you read.

“Each of you should use whatever gift you have received to serve others, as faithful stewards of God’s grace in its various forms.” – 1 Peter 4:10

June 22 - Some of these words are from my Rick Warren daily devotion. The below verse was written by when he was in prison. He stresses that your whole life should be a learning experience. I strive to learn something new daily.

“Not that I have already obtained all this, or have already arrived at my goal, but I press on to take hold of that for which Christ Jesus took hold of me.  Brothers and sisters, I do not consider myself yet to have taken hold of it. But one thing I do: Forgetting what is behind and straining toward what is ahead’.”  - Philippians 3:12-13

Following Jesus is a choice and then a process for the rest of your life. You can’t follow without walking. You’ve got to have growth. Happy people never stop growing. Happy people never stop discovering, never stop learning. If you’ve stopped growing, you’re miserable, because you were made to grow.

Pride will keep you from growing, because when you pretend that you’ve got it all together, you won’t make an effort to become more spiritually mature. No one has it all together! Humility leads to happiness because it makes you teachable.
Happiness and humility go together because humble people are teachable. They are always asking, “How can I be a better person? How can I be a better friend? How can I be a better teacher? How can I be a better follower of Jesus?”

God I pray that you are always watching over me and do not allow me to be weak. Help me to not fall into the path and temptations of my enemies.

“Your commands make me wiser than my enemies, for they are ever with me.” – Psalm 119:98

June 21 - Be filled with life. Meditate daily on all the things you have to be thankful for. Go over them to the Lord in prayer, and as you do, you will find your heart filling up with life, light and purpose. Give thanks for every second of your life and God will doing amazing things for you.

For the first time since my surgery I cut my lawn this week. For the many that know me and may have poked a little fun at me from time to time, know this is a BIG deal to me; I’ve been accused of getting the mower out to do a little spring training, that’s for you Eric. I had forgotten how much I used this time for meditation and talking to God, well and soaking up some sun.  I love the feeling of putting in a meaningful day’s work of manual labor and having that sense of accomplishment. Sorry got a little carried away, but that’s just how big of deal it is to me. Mybe I was meant to be a farmer?!?

In all seriousness, “In everything give thanks; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus concerning you.” - 1 Thessalonians 5:18.

June 20 - Surely your goodness and love will follow me all the days of my life, and I will (one day) dwell in the house of the Lord forever. – Psalm 23:6

Every day I attempt to speak out with faith-filled words, believing as Jesus said, that the words you speak are spirit and life; and I feel they should be joyful. I very seldom speak of death. Not that I’m afraid of it, I know it’s reality, but I have a lot more to experience on earth than worrying about death. I’m prepared for that day and there is nothing to fear.  Jesus says to speak life into your life, not death.  Joy in your life will bring joy to others.

This says it perfectly… "In Psalm 81:10, God instructs me, “Open wide your mouth and I will fill it.” He will give me what to say today. What to say in happy moments. What to say in aggravating moments. What to say in moments where I feel insecure and what to say when I feel completely confident. What to say in disappointing moments. What to say in response to questions. He also reminds me that sometimes it is good to keep my mouth closed and say nothing at all.” - Lysa TerKeurst

Light in a messenger’s eyes brings joy to the heart, and good news gives health to the bones.
- Proverbs 15:30

June 18 - Surely your goodness and love will follow me all the days of my life, and I will (one day) dwell in the house of the Lord forever. – Psalm 23:6

June 17- Do you sometimes think, if I could just move somewhere else or if I could only have a job without so much stress? IF ONLY?!?

You know God plants us where He needs us. Bloom where you are planted.  Wherever you are, know that you have been put there for a reason, even if it’s to save just one person. Whatever situation you’re in, know in your heart this is where you need to be and exactly what He wants you to be struggling with. Have Faith…If God brings you to it, He will see you through it.

In the past I’d have days when I’d be at my wits and would keep asking God for guidance. There have been many times when I questioned whether I’ve put myself in this position or if God really needs me right here, right now!!! So daily you trudge through trying to make sense of it. Then I received my answer and so many blessings from my situation. To me there’s no other explanation as to how and why God would have had me go through the scare of deadly brain cancer and it my case come out feeling so blessed to be able to do His work. Be gracious and thankful for all things.

“Give thanks to the Lord, call on His name; make known among the nations what he has done.” – 1 Chronicles 16:8.

June 16 - Keep yourself happy…Anytime we expect someone else to always keep us happy chances are, it will end in some type of disappointment. I find there is a fine line between keeping ourselves happy and someone else keeping us happy. Honestly to me it’s a big circle. I don’t depend on a single particular person or thing for my happiness, but being with or hanging around particular people and doing certain things make me happy. Remember the choice is yours. SMILE!!

“The Lord gives strength to His people; the Lord blesses His people with peace and happiness.” – Psalm 29:11.

June 15 - Happy Father’s Day to all those best ever fathers!!!

God knew what he was doing when He placed each one of us with that perfect father. Mine Dad is caring, gracious, faithful to God, a great role model and would help anyone out, he is my hero in so many ways. He stands by all of us and will never let harm come to us. He spoils us, even though we may not always deserve it, but wants to see us HAPPY and enjoying life. My dad always promotes doing your best and treating others in the same manner as you would like to be treated. I’m so thankful my dad is still with me today. I think God has many plans for us yet. Of course today we’re heading to Busch Stadium to hopefully bring home another win!!! I love you Daddy’O.

God, bless all the fathers in the world. Guide them to be good role models and loving to all their children. Help them to be a father like You are. Give them grace and patience to handle situations in a loving way.  Also be with those whose earthly fathers have already gone to be with you. Present happy memories in their minds today. In your name, Amen.

June 14 - I read somewhere that before our prayers can mean anything to God, they must first mean something to us. Prayer is speaking to God about the deepest concerns of our hearts. I also still believe that God knows what’s in your heart and if you just can’t find the right words He’s still listening.

The source of true prayer is being in tune with God.  It is a life lived in loving obedience to the Father. The Bible says, “And whatever we ask we receive from Him, because we keep His commandments and do those things that are pleasing in His sight.” -1 John 3:22

God delights in the prayers of his children; prayers that express our love for Him, prayers that express to Him our deepest, heaviest burdens and our thankfulness. Don’t be afraid to pray no matter how it comes out, He’s a great translator!!

Dear Lord, help us to feel comfortable and complete in our pray time with You. Help us to express ourselves and live our lives as an example of you to other. Reassure us that you’re always there, even when we don’t have the correct words.  In Jesus Holy name. Amen

“Whatever things you ask when you pray, believe that you receive them, and you will have them.” – Mark 11:24

June 13 - Living a Holy Life...

Do you ever wonder what role you will play when you get to Heaven? Sometimes I do?!? Someone once told me I think God’s role for you will be being a great care giver.  I think my response was, “Maybe I can just be a Wal-Mart greeter.” But I think that job has been eliminated, darn.  Whatever our part is we need to start preparing while on earth; have great FAITH and love for others. Living a life of cleanliness and leading others to Christ, as we share our faith in doing good deeds in Christ’s name…paying it forward by example, without being "boastful". The smallest of goodness and kindness is noticed by God.

Therefore, as God’s chosen people, holy and dearly loved, clothe yourselves with compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness and patience. – Colossians 3:12.

Good will come to him who is generous and gives freely. - Psalm 112:5.

June 12 - Joy and happiness similar feelings; but they come from two different sources. Joy comes from living a meaningful relationship with God, knowing this world is only temporary, and some day we will be with God forever. Joy comes from the fact that although we do not yet see God, we “believe in Him and are filled with an inexpressible and glorious joy.” – 1 Peter 1:8

Happiness depends on a particular circumstance we may be experiencing. Simply put; happiness goes away when life takes a wrong turn; joy keeps us going and may even grow through God in the painful time. Submit to the Holy Spirit – regardless of the circumstance.

“Count it all joy when you fall into various trails.” – James 1:2.

The difference between the two is what I now experience when I get disappointed when things aren’t just the way I think they should be. I now brush it off and relish in the JOY that I have tomorrow to try again.

June 11 - We can live a life of always rushing from one thing to the next. My girls used to say my theme song should be, Alabama’s, “I’m In A Hurry”.  At one time that’s the way it felt:

I'm in a hurry to get things done
Oh, I rush and rush until life's no fun
All I really got to do is live and die
But I'm in a hurry and don't know why

Now I realize how important it is to enjoy life, celebrate life to its fullest. Enjoy the caring company of others. It's especially meaningful to celebrate special occasions: graduations, anniversaries, birthdays (both physical and spiritual), and successful recoveries from illnesses, to name a few. We celebrate life when we show our gratitude for the Lord’s blessings. We take the time to honor God for His generous healing.

This weekend Relay for Life of Franklin County will be gathering at the Washington High School to celebrate life and honor all who have battled Cancer. Please join us for a time of “Celebration of Life”.

You have let me experience the joys of life and the exquisite pleasures of your own eternal presence. – Psalm 16:11

June 10 - Our duty is not only to just know His Word, but to live His Word positively daily. FAITH and GOOD WORKS (Living a Godly life) gives us SALVATION. You may know the Bible inside and out, but yet if you do not live your life accordingly you’re not pleasing Go Gyro God.

“He said to them, ‘Go into all the world and preach the gospel to all creation.’” – Mark 16:15.

Be an example of Him for all to see. I pray daily to get it right!! I want to know that I’ve given it my all and done my very best. I want to please Him, Love people more. Smile more than I frown. Laugh a lot more than I complain. Try not to question someone’s actions, because I do not know their circumstances….and pray that they find God for comfort and support.

I thank Him for all of it, the whole package; for life wouldn’t be complete without the good and bad, the highs and lows. The bad times and lows, are challenging moments that have helped me to mature into the person God was looking for. For all these mixed together make me that special person God had in mind when He created me.

It’s not always easy, we can get tired and discouraged, so it’s nice to have the reassurance that what we do for Him is helping others.  Thank you God for making me who I am and help me to always use my gifts to your good.

Pray continually, give thanks in all circumstances; for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus. – 1Thessalonians 5:17-18

June 9 - Let the love of Christ shine through your actions. “Don’t let anyone look down on you because you are young, but set an example for the believers in speech, in conduct, in love, in faith and in purity.” - 1 Timothy 4:12

The Scripture says that one day God will wipe away all the tears. There will be no more sickness, no more tragedy, no more worry, and no more pain. But in the meantime, God is counting on you and me to wipe away the tears of others. ~ Joel O'Steen

That’s what true friends are for…being there for others when you really DON’T understand what they may be going through, but you know they need comfort and an outlet to just let go.

I'm the worrier of stupid things, so I have to reassure myself daily that there are bigger things to be concerned about, but oddly enough those things don't worry me.

There is no need to worry. Believe in the Lord and let him take care of the rest. “Do not let your hearts be troubled. Believe[a] in God, believe also in me." John 14:1

June 8 - Happiness and joy do not come from the outside. They come from within.  Happiness is a conscious decision, a choice we can make ourselves each day we live and it can be contagious!!! “For the joy of the Lord is your strength.” ~ Nehemiah 8:10.

Over time, and especially when times are tough the ability to find joy in life really is a tremendous strength. People that can laugh are the strong ones.  I am convinced that’s what has gotten me, as well as my family through some scary times. From the first day I remember making light of the words you have “CANCER” and hearing you have from 30 days to possibly 24 months to live. I was bound and determine I was living a long time yet. All who know me well, know I’m always ready for a challenge; now this challenge was the biggest I’ve ever faced, but I was determined it would be the biggest I’ve ever conquered.

Every person that stepped foot in my hospital room was meet with a smile; I’m convinced that’s why I had so many visitors. Nurses would come to sit in my room when they had a break. I’m sure they could see God shining through me with my positive outlook.  A smile of JOY and HAPPINESS should be a spontaneous reaction. I thank God for my gift and ability to find happiness in the hard times. Maybe we should say “The strength of the Lord is our joy.”

“A cheerful look brings joy to the, and good news gives health to the bones.” – Proverbs 15:30

June 6 - By my God I can leap over a wall. Psalm 18:29

The Bible confronts us with our moral independence within ourselves and our spiritual dependence upon God.

David says in Psalm 18:29, “By my God I can leap over a wall.”  You know when our adrenaline gets flowing and we’re at the top of our game we can jump over some walls in life by our own will. God has not left us completely helpless, but some walls and tasks are so high that we need more…we need God!!  There are some can only be leaped over with the help of God. If we try on our own and continue to fall short we become discouraged. But that's the way God wants it, this is when God wants us to ask for His help. These obstacle could be a variety of things, a relationship, the project at work, and even just finding it in ourselves to trust Him to take control of the situation.

Pray. Relax. Let go. And let God take over. ( Thanks Cindy B)

“He who trusts in himself is a fool, but he who walks in the wisdom of our God is kept safe.” – Proverbs 28:26

June 5 - God sees and understands what we do not see and understand. He asks us to trust Him, do not live an untruthful life and to not be frustrated because things don’t always go according to our plan. Sometimes not being frustrated is easier said than done…we usually want what we want and we want it now. It’s hard to believe that God may have something else in store for us, when what we think we need is so Perfect.

Trust in the Lord with all your heart; and lean not unto your own understanding.  In all your ways acknowledge Him, and He shall direct your paths. ~ Proverbs 3:5,6

June - 4 “Haven't I commanded you: be strong and courageous? Do not be afraid or discouraged, for the LORD your God is with you wherever you go." Joshua 1:9.

Think and do outside of your normal little box. You don’t want to miss out on something you could have enjoyed or given you fulfillment in your life…besides you may not get a second chance. When I feel overwhelmed I step back take a deep breath and pray for God’s helping hand to carry me through. Keep pushing forward.

"And let us not be weary in well doing: for in due season we shall reap, if we faint not." Galatians 6:9

Be generous when you can. Generosity is giving when you can with no expectations of anything in return.

June 3 - When you show up in your own life as peaceful, you begin to be a ripple effect of peace to all around you. Start by making a difference in your own life by believing in YOU. As through self-love and self-care you are able to serve others bigger and better.

Spend your time getting to know God instead of trying to figure out what He is doing. If you have doubts, give them to your Heavenly Father. "And he said unto them, Why are ye so fearful? How is it that ye have no faith?" Mark 4:40

At the end of the day, honoring God leads to good things. Anything else leads to confusion, emotional exhaustion and a lack of good things.” - Lysa TerKeurst

Claim your joy. "Sing unto the LORD; for he hath done excellent things: this is known in all the earth." Isaiah 12:5
