A Free Library Card Is Your Ticket To Back-To-School Savings

Union, MO - September is Library Card Sign-up Month, a time when Scenic Regional Library joins with the American Library Association and public libraries nationwide to make sure that our students have the most import school supply of all - a free library card.

Resources at Scenic Regional Library are available to anyone who has a library card. Students can turn to the library for materials, programs and services that support academic achievement.  The library has a variety of books on numerous subject available as well as several encyclopedia sets ranging from general topics to sets on specific topics, books on test preparation, free internet access and Wi-Fi, DVDs, word processing systems, and more.

Walk back in time at Hermann Farms' Civil War Days

Hermann, Mo. - Hermann Farm is gearing up to host the 3rd Annual Civil War Days September 21 and 22. 

The Civil War Days is an opportunity for the public to step back into history and fully understand and relate to the daily lives and events of 1860’s Missouri. 

Funded by the Dierberg Educational Foundation, Hermann Farm’s mission is to preserve, promote, and educate about the historical heritage and significance of rural Missouri.

Franklin County United Way Kicks Off 2013 Campaign - Celebrating 60th Anniversary

Franklin County, Mo. - In honor of its 60th anniversary, the Franklin County Area United Way has set its 2013 campaign goal at $1,000,060. 

“The United Way has been helping people live better, healthier lives since 1953,” said David Strubberg, United Way board president and campaign co-chair.

He noted that over the last 60 years while much has changed in Franklin County, the mission of United Way has remained the same--helping people in need by building better communities for everyone.

Franklin County Sheriff’s Office Will Crack Down on Child Restraint Violations

Franklin County, Missouri  - Missouri law requires all children under the age of eight to be in an appropriate child safety seat or booster seat unless  they are 80 lbs or 4’9” tall.
 
Franklin County Sheriff’s Office announced today they are joining with law enforcement September 15-21 for an aggressive Child Passenger Safety Week Law Enforcement Campaign to crack down on Missouri’s child safety seat law violators and to reduce highway fatalities and injuries to children.
 

New Haven Care Center Celebrates 30 years - Raises $18,000 At Fundraiser

New Haven, Mo. - The New Haven Care Center celebrated their 30th anniversary at 6 p.m., Friday, August 23 at the Assumption Parish Hall in New Haven with a dinner fundraiser and auction.

About 125 people attended the event, all of which had paid for their ticket to help raise money for the Care Center.

Approximately $18,000 was raised from the dinner, according to chairman, Jeanette Bauche.

St. Peter's United Church of Christ invites you to join us this Sunday, August 25, as we celebrate "National Back to Church Sunday." We offer two worship service opportunities each Sunday, 8 a.m. and 10 a.m. with childcare offered during the 10 a.m. service.
