Franklin County Sheriff's Department enters social media world

Franklin County, Mo. - In an effort to increase public awareness of law enforcement and public safety efforts, the Franklin County Sheriff’s Office entered the world of social networking by launching a “facebook” page.

Joining the social networking site of “facebook”, which is nearly 584 million people strong, will enable the Franklin County Sheriff’s Office to become more transparent to the citizens of Franklin County and those that have an interest in it.

— Police in Springfield, Mo., have issued an Amber Alert for one-year-old Harmony J. Blue.
Police said Blue was abducted by a white female with blonde hair, who was driving a stolen Gray 2002 Nissan Maxima with Missouri plates YG6K5R.
Blue is a black female, 2 feet tall and weighs 21 pounds.

She has black hair, brown eyes, and a light brown complexion. 
She is wearing a blue one-piece sleeper. 

Missing 16-year-old Kiera McLellan has been found

Jefferson City, Mo. - The News Tribune has now reported that the missing 16-year-old Jefferson City teen — Kiera McLellan — has been found.

“She was hiding at a friend’s house,” Jefferson City Police Capt. Bob Cynova reported at 12:15 p.m. Monday. “She’s fine.”

Cynova said the teen has been taken into juvenile custody at the Prenger Center.

St. Clair Mo. - Thursday evening Franklin County deputies received information at approximately 7:00 p.m. that 26-year-old Lucas Glenn was at a residence in the 2000 block of the North Service Road West of St. Clair.

Glenn had numerous outstanding warrants for narcotics violations, property damage, and ordinance violations.  Glenn was also known from past encounters for fleeing law enforcement and resisting arrest.

Deputies responded to the residence and observed Glenn inside.  When deputies made entry Glenn ran to the basement attempting to hide from authorities.  Glenn did not realize that deputies had surrounded the residence.

Female beaten with battle-axe after bringing home suspect from a bar

Villa Ridge, Mo. – Monday morning a white male, age 33 from Cottage Hills, Illinois has officially been charged with assault in the first degree after striking 37 year-old, Cheryl Gettys numerous times with a battle-axe.

Franklin County Sheriff Gary Toelke said deputies responded Sunday morning at approximately 1:20 a.m. to an apartment complex in the 900 block of Osage Village Court in Villa Ridge, Mo. after receiving reports from neighboring residents of a female heard screaming in one of the apartments.

After deputies arrived they were told that a female living in the apartments had been assaulted with an ax and the suspect was reported to be armed.

Individual Responsible for Homicide of Retired MU Faculty Member Identified

COLUMBIA, Mo. — Officials from the University of Missouri Police Department announced today that they had identified the individual responsible for the homicide of Jeong H. Im, a retired faculty member at MU.

Update on Union City Park Shooting, suspects identified - second suspect remains at large, first suspect in custody

Union, Mo. - As originally reported on Jan. 9, Union Police officers responded to the area of Union’s Rotary Pavilion at the main park after receiving a report of shots fired at 12:48 a.m.

As of this morning, charges have been issued on the second individual believed to be involved in this incident.

He is identified as Spencer L. Grimes, a white male age 18.

Grimes has been charged with Robbery in the 1st Degree, Assault in the 2nd Degree, and Unlawful Use of a Weapon.

Bonnie and Clyde steal flat screen TV - trade it in for heroin

Pacific, Mo. - Monday afternoon at approximately 3:25pm, Franklin County Deputies responded to Kober's Trailer Park south of Pacific for a reported residence burglary that had just occurred.

A witness in the area reported seeing a male and female subject steal a large flat screen television from the residence. The reporting party provided a detailed description of the suspects and their vehicle.

Further investigation yielded possible identities of suspects from the Robertsville area. These suspects' photographs were then positively identified by the witness at the scene.

Second counterfeit note discovered in Owensville, MO area

--Recently a second counterfeit note was discovered in the Owensville area according to an email sent out by the Owensville Chamber of Commerce to surrounding towns and local businesses, this coming after a fake 100-dollar note was uncovered in Pacific, Mo. in late December.
