Husband - Wife Steal Copper - Wife Leaves Purse Behind

Union, Mo. – On Tuesday Franklin County deputies investigated a burglary that had occurred in the 2600 block of Highway AH, approximately eight miles south of Union, Mo.

Sheriff Gary Toelke said deputies discovered that copper wire, copper tubing, and electrical cords had been stolen from the residence.  They also found a key piece of evidence, resulting in the arrest of a husband and wife duo.

Three Females Called "Names" Before Suspect Fires Shotgun At A Bush

St. Clair, Mo. - Yesterday evening around 7:50 p.m. Franklin County Deputies responded for report of gunshots fired approximately seven miles west of St. Clair on Sunflower Lane.

After Deputies arrived in the 900 block a male subject was found standing on the deck of a residence, holding a shotgun behind his back along with a pouch containing several rounds of ammunition.

According to Sheriff Gary Toelke, the incident began after the suspect’s dog ran towards three females who were walking their dog.  The victims told deputies before hearing several shots fired; the suspect retrieved the dog and then began calling them “names.”

Debit - Credit Card Breach at Major Merchant affects PSB Customers

There has been a recent breach of debit/credit cards that occurred at a major merchant. PSB has been provided a list of our Debit Card customers whose Debit Card may have been compromised. We are contacting those affected customers and re-issuing new Debit Cards to those who are impacted.

You may receive a phone call from one of our PSB employees informing you of the event, or they may have left you a message asking you to return the call.

Franklin County Sheriff’s Office Cracks Down on Impaired Drivers

Union, MO – The Franklin County Sheriff’s Office recently focused extra enforcement efforts on impaired driving laws March 14 – 17.

During the effort, law enforcement officers issued a total of 38 citations, including 20 speeding citations, 3 driving while intoxicated, 4 safety belt tickets, and 1 child restraint violation.

Deputies also arrested 1 fugitive and issued 3 citations for driving while revoked or suspended.  Although enforcement efforts were hampered by weather, deputies of the Franklin County Sheriff’s Office also conducted a sobriety checkpoint at the intersection of Highway H and Highway 185 on Saturday, March 16.

Female accidentally shoots herself in hand while small children sleeping

Labadie, Mo. - Franklin County Deputies responded to the 2000 block of Highway T in Labadie, Mo. after receiving a report of a gunshot victim Sunday night around 11:35 p.m.

911 dispatchers told responding units that a younger female at the residence stated her mother had been shot in the hand, stemming from a domestic disturbance.

According to law enforcement, they located a female with a gunshot wound on her left ring finger along with two male subjects, one in the living room and the other sleeping in a bedroom.  Officers also found three small children.

Pretending to rob a store is not something to joke about

Grey Summit, Mo. - Early Sunday morning a white male subject quickly learned that using his finger as a gun and making statements to a clerk the he was going to rob the store was not something to joke about.  His joke would later land him in the Franklin County Jail.

At 4:27 a.m. Franklin County Deputies responded to the I-66 Deli in Gray Summit for an attempted robbery.  According to police a white male entered, wearing a grey hoodie and began walking around.  After the clerk asked the male if she could assist him the subject made statements that he was going to rob the store and was looking for happiness.

25-year-old Gerald man commits suicide - Found by his brother

Gerald, Mo. – Earlier today (Thursday), Franklin County Deputies responded to a property near the intersection of Highway ZZ and Highway Y, approximately 7 miles North of Gerald.

Deputies were responding to the area after a report of a possible suicide. The brother of the victim told deputies he found a suicide note before locating his brother on their family farm, deceased from a gunshot wound.

Franklin County ranked 1st in state for drivers under 21 killed in car crashes

Union, MO – Franklin County Sheriff’s Office announced today they are joining with statewide law enforcement March 15-31 for an aggressive youth seat belt mobilization crack down on Missouri’s seat belt law violators and to reduce highway fatalities.

Only 66 percent of Missouri tens wear their safety belts when driving or riding in a motor vehicle.  Eight out of ten teens killed in traffic crashes are unbuckled. 

Under the Graduated Driver’s License (GDL) law, teens are required to wear their seat belt as it’s a primary offense, meaning they can be pulled over solely for not wearing their seat belt.

Scam targeting local businesses

Pacific, Mo. - The Pacific Chamber of Commerce is warning local businesses of a scam supposedly involving the Secretary of State's office. 

Secretary of State, Jason Kander, is alerting Missouri corporations to a potentially deceptive letter from an entity called Corporate Records Service.

The solicitation, called "Annual Minutes Records Form," falsely suggests Missouri businesses must complete the form and pay a $125 fee, or risk being in non-compliance with state law.

Check Fraud Alert

The Washington Chamber of Commerce has released a Check Fraud Alert.  The account has been closed, however checks are circulating in the area.
