20-Year-Old Hermann Girl Killed In Vehicle Crash

HERMANN, Mo. - Thursday evening at 5:20 p.m. 20-year-old Kelsey Barber was fatally injured in a single car accident on Highway 100 near Frene Creek Road, west of Hermann.

According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol (MSHP) Barber was traveling westbound on Highway 100 when she failed to negotiate a curve, causing her to travel off the right side of the roadway. 

Cinderella Showing At The Walt Theater This Weekend

NEW HAVEN, Mo. - Showing at the Walt Theater this weekend is Cinderella (Rated PG - 1hr 45min) on Friday and Saturday ONLY (Apr. 3 - Apr. 4), staring  Lily James, Cate Blanchett, and Richard Madden.

NOTE:  Saturday will feature two shows begining at 4:30 and 7:30.  Doors open 30 minutes before showtime.

Lily: A Symbol of Life

By: Rosalie Laune - No other flower is associated with the observance of Easter more than the lily.  Its beautiful white flowers are symbolic of purity, joy, hope and life.  However, the lily was cultivated by civilizations long before it became associated with Easter and has symbolic meaning to many different religions.

The name “lily” is applied chiefly (and correctly) to any member of the genus Lilium and contains over 100 species. All are herbaceous perennials that arise from bulbs and produce large, showy flowers.  Most are native to temperate regions of the northern hemisphere.

New Haven Lions Club Makes Donation To Food Pantry

NEW HAVEN, Mo. - Earlier this month Al Wherle and Tom Lagemann with the New Haven Lions Club, presented Rev. Elvis Lee, Director of the New Haven Food Pantry, with a donation from proceeds raised at the Lions Club Annual Pancake Supper.

Gasconade County R-I School Board Announces Hiring Of New Superintendent

HERMANN, Mo. – Wednesday night the Gasconade County R-I Board of Education announced the hiring of Dr. Tracey Hankins, who will replace outgoing superintendent Dr. Chris Neale. Hankins will officially join the district on July 1, 2015.

Brenda Bader, Board President said, “The Board is very pleased to welcome Dr. Hankins to the top leadership post in our school district. Dr. Hankins has a strong skill set and a record of significant success in her previous positions. We welcome Dr. Hankins to our school and community and look forward to our continued success and progress under her leadership.”

Watson Named NHHS February Student of the Month

NEW HAVEN, Mo. - The February Student of the Month is Senior Kayla Watson.  Kayla is the daughter of Stacey and Jeremy Watson.  She is active in FBLA.

Mrs. Borcherding said, “Kayla has put in a huge amount of time creating the school website and I think that the final product is really nicely done.  It's clean, contemporary, well organized, and displays the best things happening at New Haven High School.”

New Haven Community Track Project Becoming A Reality

NEW HAVEN, Mo. - The construction of a track at New Haven High School is now becoming a reality and by late summer of this year the committee and very confident that construction will begin.

Tuesday evening a town hall meeting was held by The Committee to Build a New Track where committee member Brad Zobrist spoke about the projects financial status as well John Nilges, Project Manager with BFA Engineering Surveying, who revealed drawings and talked about the initial steps to kick start the project.
