Quick Thought: Missouri Representatives sign laws but make their own rules - We can smoke but you can't

By Kyle Quick

What I am about to tell you may cause increased heart rate and high blood pressure, you may suffer several “shock and awe” attacks, or a “jaw dropping” injury.  (Sit back from anything your jaw could fall and hit.)

Before you “read more” here is a small dose of this experimental drug, “Shooish-Keepitic-Quiet”.

The next time you visit the Missouri House of Representatives bring along a pack of cigarettes, visit a Republican’s office and light it up.  Yes that is right, Republicans can smoke all they want in their offices…continuing reading at your own risk.

December 7, 1941 President Franklin D. Roosevelt addressed the nation for a reason that every President fears of having to do.  On this date, 71 years ago, President Franklin D. Roosevelt delivered the greatest speech in our country’s history about one of the worst attacks our country had ever witnessed.

Over 2,400 men and women lost their lives “A date which will live in infamy — the United States of America was suddenly and deliberately attacked by naval and air forces of the Empire of Japan." (FDR, 1941)

The attack on the Hawaiian Islands also formed the greatest generation to have ever lived.  As one WWII veteran told us, “I never thought twice about enlisting, knowing it was unlikely I would survive and still be living today."

A guy's guide to brownie points at Elizabeth's

By: Kyle Quick

I feel it is important to note that I am a guy, and society says crafts and antiques are not our thing.  Would I have thought of stopping by Elizabeth’s before this past weekend?  You know the answer to that question.  However, anytime you find something special it is only right to tell your friends, so guys listen up.

Elizabeth’s is in a category all of its own.  If you are into antiques, crafts, home décor, or do not want to drive all the way to Washington to buy your wife a gift, then Elizabeth’s is the place to go.  I am not quite finished yet boys…

It is ok, guys, if you like candles; there is nothing wrong with that, they have a wide selection of those too.  Every once in a while you need to impress your wife by cooking her a nice dinner and believe it or not, Elizabeth’s has all the necessities.

QUICK THOUGHT: Five minute conversation I will always remember

By Kyle Quick
May 4 2012

--Times have changed since Richard Pratt began working as a Pharmacist in 1964. There were no drive thru pharmacies or machines that filled scripts for you.  Simply put, you had to wait.

Today it is the complete opposite, everyone’s in a hurry, somewhere to go, something to do, or there are those in a hurry to go nowhere.

I will be the first to admit, I should slow down at times and not always be in a rush.  However, I will say, I never pass up a good conversation, particularly with my elders; why not talk with someone who has lived over 83 years, they know more about life than anyone.

It won't happen to me...

Prom is one of the most exciting times for high school students.

Girls spend days looking for the perfect dress while guys walk in a tuxedo store and spend about 10 minutes before they are walking back out.

In fact, I can remember my senior prom as if it were yesterday and there is a great story that goes along with my memory.  I will share it with you at the end of this article.
